Bringing a Bike to Life with 3D Scanning
Philipp Wulk and Matthias Pittner of Impuls collaborated with artist Fabian Gatermann to build a cafe racer that embellished a decades-old frame with futuristic technology. Together, the team took a the base design of a BMW K100 from 1985 and scanned in 3D. Gatermann rendered an intricated sequence of polygons to decorate the fuel tank, then carefully recreated his design by hand. The resulting bike is a unique ride with a classic build and up-to-date aesthetic.
